Ruggiero Leoncavallo (1857 - 1919) was an Italian opera composer. Caldwel,l and what a loss that is for all of us. It borrows from the Mertz piece of the same title but is a new composition. These works brought a great fluidity of colour and rhythm to western music. Where appropriate we give the New Style or occasionally both dates.
